well, my most intimate friends know me as CVT… me

…one who, though always questing to model the “good,” often fails in such sublime pursuits. in fact, some will probably corroborate that, at times, i’m inattentive, insensible, insecure and infelicitous–so in many ways i probably dwell with the “bad”…

…yeah…i’m like the vilest, righteous person i’ve ever met, for sure…

…politically speaking, i’m sure i’m liberal, not moderate (i’ve never liked the milquetoast, half-way positions, btw); for this is the only mode that i can envisage a politics of grace: empathy most manifest in being solicitous to the needs of the “wretched of the earth,” like me…

…i’m not extravagantly optimistic, but i am hopeful….i’m somewhat skeptical, even: i believe with great passion but, doubtless, too much introspection plagues me, at the same time, with unbelief…

…in short, like you, i’m rife with the contradiction and complexity that so characterizes my humanity…

…as to my roots…well, i’m a proud native Mississippian, a product of the Gulfport, MS black underclass, shaped intellectually by the unenviable public educational school system “there”…

…yeah…i’m me…i’m CVT…

N.B. – despite my often-glaring frailties, i’m incorrigibly christian, so lemme here give a “shout out” to the Jesus of Nazareth…
